Growing up with a father and grandfather in the mechanical contracting
business, and a grandmother who was a professional seamstress, the
journey from a business major in college at the University of Southern
Mississippi to now interior decorator was not that unusual.
Moving to the Columbia, South Carolina area in 2001 after living and
working in Louisville, Kentucky for 16 years in the world of computer
administration brought about many changes.
While building and designing her own home with builders, Nancy and
Charlie Mauney of Carolina Custom Homes, her desire to change careers
evolved. After becoming employed by a local designer and attending
and graduating from Midlands Technical College Certificate program,
Holly has worked hard to achieve her goals in interior design by winning
the “People’s Choice Award” for “Best Interior Design” in the 2004
Parade of Homes, participating in the HBA sponsored Home and Garden
shows, and decorating a room in the 2005 Symphony League Show House,
featured in South Carolina Homes and Gardens. Her own home was featured
in Lake Murray Magazine’s 2004 April issue.
As owner of her own company, Millikan & Co. Interiors, Inc., she
enjoys new construction, kitchen designing, lighting and furniture
placement, and helping the client achieve their needs and desires
within a given budget. Other services provided by Holly are furniture
arranging, accessorizing and window treatments.
Returning to the south has increased her personal awareness of the
emotional feeling of home. Holly’s goal is to assist the homeowner
in achieving their personality and lifestyle throughout the home.
